After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:1: Identify the most common and most troublesome neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia.2: Evaluate and intervene to minimize the clinical and environmental factors that may contribute to neuropsychiatric symptoms, agitation, and aggression in patients with dementia.3: Assess the risks and benefits of pharmacologic treatment and prescribe antipsychotic and alternative agents appropriately for dementia and agitation psychosis.4: Summarize the roles of cognitive reserve and fluid intelligence in maintaining brain fitness.5: Recommend measures to maintain maximum cognitive ability and brain health on the basis of the evidence supporting currently available interventions.
